monochrome SANE scan with HPLIP, hp 3520 all-in-one

Hello,I have purchased a wireless all-in-one hp officejet 3520, installed HPLIP version 3.13.4.I can print and scan, and even work with SANE (0.996 on Ubuntu 10.04), however I have a very annoying problem: when perform a monochrome scan via xsane, I cannot set the contrast or brightness. Xsane only shows a "contrast" bar which has no effect on the scan. With my old scanner (HP 2400c) I was able to do that. If I perform the scan from a windows pc, I can change brighteness (then it is not a harware problem).Any ideas? Thanks
