How to configure Omantel HUAWIE ADSL Modem ?

Open your browser then enter this modem’s ip address “http://192.168.1.1” and press enter.

Login Username: admin

Login Password: admin

ADSL Configuration

  • VPI: 0
  • VCI: 35
  • Service Category: UBR without PCR
  • Protocol: PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
  • Encapsulation Mode: LCC
  • PPP User Name:
  • PPP Password:
  • Authentication Method: AUTO
  • WAN Service Type: Internet
  • Dial-up mode: AlwaysOn

Click Apply button to save the configuration

Let’s start configuration

Open your favorite web browser (Chrome/Firefox/Internet explorer) and type Omantel Modem IP (or click this link ->): http://192.168.1.1 ->press enter key

Click “Internet Setup“

Select “DSL“

Click “Add button” located under “Ethernet Setup“. Enter this configuration

  • VPI: 0
  • VCI: 35
  • Service category: Select UBR without PCR

Connection type

  • Select PPoE (PPP over Ethernet) as protocol.
  • Encapsulation Mode: LLC
  • Tick IPv4 check box

Click Apply button to save the configuration and the router will automatically restart to apply new configuration. Please few minutes and enjoy your surfing.

D-Link WiFi / Wireless Settings

  1. Click “Setup”, then navigate to “Wireless” .
  2. Click “Wireless Basic” button
  3. Tick “Enable Wireless”
  4. Enter a new “Wireless network Name (SSID)”, for eg: “Omantel WiFi”
  5. Visibility Status: Visible
  6. Country/region :Oman
  7. Control Sideband: Upper
  8. Wireless Channel: CH11
  9. 802.11 Mode: 802.11b/g/n
  10. Bandwidth: 20M/40M
  11. Click the Apply button to save the configuration.

D-Link WiFi Password Settings/Wireless Security

Follow the same steps to change WiFi password.

  1. Go to “Setup”-> Wireless -> Click “Wireless Security”

  1. Select Security mode : WPA2 Only
  2. WPA Encryption : TKIP+AES
  3. WPA Mode: WPA2-PSK
  4. Group Key Update Interval: 0
  5. Pre-Shared Key: *************

Minimum WPA2 password length is 8 characters long. You must maintain a password of 14 or 15 characters long, because there are software out there to guess your password using brute force guessing. The German government recommends 20 characters as a minimum. WPA2 passwords can be up to 63 characters long.
