You can easily create bootable Windows USB through these simple steps. Windows 10 installation and reinstallation using bootable USB drive is very fast and convenient comparing to DVD media.
Prerequisites For Bootable Windows USB Creation
- Reliable internet connection (large amount of data will be downloaded) – Do not use Metered connection.
- Hard Disk must have at least 8-10 GB of free space to download installation files – Cleanup disk to free up space.
- USB flash drive with at least 10-15GB of space, all contents in this drive will be deleted.
Download Windows Media Creation Tool [ MediaCreationTool.exe]
Go to official Windows 10 web page
You can see “Create Windows 10 installation Media” section
Click “Download tool now” button to start the download.
A executable file name “MediaCreationToolXXX.exe” will be downloaded from Windows website.
Right click the file and click “Run as administrator“
Click Accept to agree to the license terms.
Next page you will be asked “What do you want to do?“
Select “Create installation media for another PC”, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10 and click “Next”
To identify architecture (32 or 64bit), Go to Start->Type in “System Info” and click “System information”. See this example given below; this PC is x64 means it is 64bit.
Connect your USB flash drive.
Choose which media to use, select “USB flash drive” and click “Next”
Now all connected drives will be displayed. Select the USB flash drive from the list (click “Refresh drive list” if not listed) and click Next button to start bootable USB creation.
When completed, safely remove the USB drive.
Now you can start Windows installation, Plug the USB drive into the PC you want to install Windows and power on. Make sure you set the boot order in BIOS before you begin.
