[Answering] Running Windows Server 2003 after Extended Support

Posted on: Jun 26 2014 Category :Windows > Windows Server General Views: 880 | Subscribe

Hello all,

We are running a machine with Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition as the OS. This machine is both a file server and an email server (Exchange 2007).

Extended support for this version of Windows Server ends on 07/14/15. What are the security risks of running Server 2003 after support ends? The only public port open on this server is 443 for Outlook Web Access, but with Exchange 2007 being supported until 04/11/17, any security vulnerabilities for Exchange will be patched until this date.

Thanks for any information.
