1. Restart the Video Driver
Press Windows Key + Shift + CTRL + B together to restart the video driver, your screen may blink a few times.
2. How To Restart or Load Explorer.exe ?
- Press ALT + CTRL + Del keys together
- Now you will be given 5 options -> Lock, Switch user, Sign out, Change a password, Task Manager and a Cancel button. Click “Task Manager“.
- Task Manager window will appear, click File menu and select “Run new task“
Type “explorer.exe” in Create New task dialogue box and click OK. “explorer.exe” application will be opened.

Open Command Prompt as administrator and run sfc /scannow command. SFC tool will scan the integrity of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Black Screen & Event Viewer Error
Open Event Viewer and navigate to Windows Logs->Application; scroll down and click the “Error” lines one by one. Here in this example; you can see an error that says “Application Hang” Event ID 1002. In the General tab, we can see what was the issue.
Error Message Says: The program explorer.exe version 10.0.19041.1110 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Click “View reliability history“
Reliability Monitor Window will open, here you can see the Windows and application failures.
See the Critical events recorded. It says Windows Explorer Stopped responding and was closed.
