Firstly, try reinstalling Windows Fax & Scan:

Step 1: Go to settings.

Step 2: Click on apps.

Step 3: Open Apps & features.

Step 4: Select optional features.

Step 5: Click on installed features.

Step 6: Click on fax and scan.

Step 7: Now click uninstall.

Step 8: Restart the desktop.

Step 9: Go to apps & features again to reinstall Windows fax and scan.

Step 10:And reinstall the driver of the fax machine or printer from the desktop’s support download page for your desktop model.

Secondly, run the hardware & device troubleshooter:

Step 1: Press start and then search for the command prompt.

Step 2: Right-click and proceed with run as administrator.

Step 3: Copy & Paste this in the box, msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic.

Step 4: Run the troubleshooter.
