How to rectify Camera error 0xA00F4244 ?

These troubleshooting steps required elevated privilege; assuming that you have administrator privilege in your login.

1. Check BIOS settings and ensure Camera is enabled

  1. Restart your computer
  2. Enter BIOS -press the (F2) function key for entering BIOS, right after power on. See the BIOS key of major brands.

2. Make sure Camera is not disabled in Windows Privacy Settings

  1. Go to Windows Settings (Windows Key + q) type in “Privacy Settings” as shown below, then click “Privacy settings”.

  1. Enable “Allow apps to access your camera“.
  2. Also go through the list of apps accessing the Camera given below. You can disable/enable camera access for apps there, make sure you switch “On” the camera for your app also.

3. Reset the Camera App

  1. Press Windows key + q and then type in “Camera
  2. Right click Camera App and then select app settings.

4. Try Windows 10 Video Troubleshooter

  1. Press Windows key + q and then type in “Troubleshooter“; then select “Troubleshooter Settings

  1. Troubleshoot settings will open as shown below. Scroll down and select “Video Playback” from right pane.

  2. After the troubleshoot finishes, close the Settings window.
  3. Check to see if you get the same error if so continue to the next step.


5. Update Webcam Drivers.

  1. Restart your computer, (Close all apps including browser).
  2. Open device manager (Windows Key + Q, then type “device manager”) ; refer image given below.
  1. Scroll down to “Cameras or Imaging Devices” and click the plus (+) sign to the left of Cameras or Imaging Devices.
  2. if the driver is not installed properly device manager may show the device like this ..see image below.
  1. Click or touch View across the top, and make sure there is a checkmark next to Show hidden devices.

  1. Touch and hold or right-click Integrated Webcam or USB camera.
  2. Touch or click Uninstall.
  3. Confirm the uninstall process by clicking OK.
  4. After uninstall process , restart the computer.
  5. Up on restart, Windows 10 will automatically detect and install Camera driver.
  6. Check whether the Camera is working or not.
