Follow this guide to configure a network printers in your Personal Computer(PC) or Laptop with Windows 10 Operating System. We assume that the Network printer is already configured, connected to the ethernet/network and you have the IP address/hostname.

Click the Start menu and open settings

Click “Devices”

Click “Add Printer & Scanner” button


Now the system will search the network for available network printers

After searching, a list of printers available on the network will be listed. If the printer you want to connect is listed, then you select it and complete the configuration. If the printer is not in the list then click the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” link for manual configuration.

Add Printer dialogue box will be displayed as shown below. Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” and click Next.

On the next dialogue box, select device type as “TCP/IP Device“, then enter the IP address or hostname. Click Next.

Now the system will try to connect to the printer and detect the printer model and driver.

If your system is unable to identify the model/driver, then the “Install the printer driver” dialogue box will appear.

Click “Have Disk” , If you have the driver disc or printer driver saved in CD, DVD, USB, HDD, etc. click browse and locate/select the driver.

If you don’t have the disk then select the Manufacture from the Left pane and select the correct printer model from right pane and click the Next button.

Now the system will configure the printer with the driver you’re selected. in the next screen “Printer name” can be set as you wish.

Click Next to begin Printer installation.

If you want to share the printer, then select the “Share this printer so that others on your network can find and use it” option and click “Next“.

Now the printer is configured. Tick the “Set as default printer” check the box if you want to save this printer as your default printer.

Click “Print a test page” to check if your printer is working properly, or to see troubleshooting information for the printer. Click the “Finish” button to complete the network printer configuration.
