Error Code: 0x00000BC4
Error Description: Operation could not be completed. No printers were found.

Unable to add a network printer from the Printer server Error 0x00000bc4 Operation could not be completed. Manually add the printer by browsing the print servers share and clicking on the print. I have tried manually adding by providing the full share name of a printer. All attempts resulted in the same error message below.

How to solve Error Operation could not be completed error 0x00000bc4. No printers were found.?

Make sure that you have the latest compatible driver, an incompatible or old driver may cause issues like this. Also, make sure that you have the correct permission to access the printer.
**Windows 10, 8, and 7 can install the driver through “Windows update”.

Also, these errors mentioned below can be fixed using the steps explained in this article.

  • Operation failed with error 0x00000057
  • The printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000057)
  • Operation failed with error 0x000005b3
  • Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000bc4). No printers were found.
  • Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000002)

1. Download the latest Printer driver and install it in your system

You need to install the latest printer drivers – Download printer drivers of major brands.

2. Use Windows Printer Troubleshooter to rectify error 0x00000bc4

Windows 10 has a built-in printer troubleshooting tool, this tool is capable of diagnosing and fixing most of the issues/errors related to the Printer. Alternatively, you can download Printerdiagnostic10.diagcab and run the diagnostics.

Go to Control panel -> Open Troubleshooter -> select “Printer” from the list.

Click the next button and then select the printer your want to troubleshoot. Check now, if failed follow the next step.

3. Reset Print Spool

Switch off the printer, and disconnect the power cable and USB cable for 60 seconds.

Open command prompt as administrator and paste these commands given below to reset the printer spool.

net stop spooler
del %systemroot%\System32\spool\printers* /Q
net start spooler

After 60 seconds, Connect the printer again. Follow the next step if the issue persists.

4. Spooler folder permission

  1. Temporarily give Full permission to the “Creator Owner” user and check whether the issue is fixed.

Navigate to %systemroot%\System32\spool , right-click the Spool folder -> Select properties -> click Security tab, and select Creator Owner from the usernames and then click Allow -> Full control.

Restart your PC and try printing again.

2. Temporarily give Full permission to the “Everyone” user and check whether the issue is fixed.

Navigate to %systemroot%\System32\spool , right-click the Spool folder -> Select properties -> click Security tab, and select Everyone from the usernames and then click Allow -> Full control.



Follow the next step, if you are facing the same error.

5. Add the network printer again from the print server using the IP address

Try to add the network printer using the IP address instead of the printer name.

  1. Go to “Control Panel ->Hardware and Sound -> Devices and Printers”.
  2. Press Add a Printer.

  1. Click “Create a new port:” and then select “Add a local printer”.
  2. Select “Create a new port”. Choose “Local Port” as the type of the port and press the “Next” button.
  3. Now “Enter a port name” input box appears here type the address in this format and click next.

for eg: \192.168.1.1\hp1006 or you can use hostname/computer name ie: \printersever1\hp1006
  1. On this screen you will be asked to choose the driver for the printer, if you have the driver disk then put CD into the drive and chose i have a disk if you don’t have the driver, let Windows download the driver, click “Windows Update”.
  2. Go through the rest of the settings as usual printer installation.
